Happy Thoughts Thursday

So you've made it through half the week, but it's still not Friday yet. Sometimes by Thursday you need a little lift to make it to the weekend.

Our solution? Happy Thought Thursday. On Tuesdays you can drop a pet peeve or an irritation. On Thursdays, give us a praise, a thankfulness, or something that just makes you happy. Your contributions on Thursday can be deep and spiritual, such as thankfulness for your salvation, or as shallow as a cup of coffee or a good hair day.  Here are our happy thoughts for this week:

Stephanie: my parents are coming in two days!

Kylee: only 14 weeks until baby is here!

Jill:  just attended two great nights of revival. Love being in God’s house with God’s people!

what about you? What makes you happy today?

Where is our Faith?

How many of you worry about different things in your life whether it be your spouse, your children, your finances, people in your church or events going on in your ministry? I think that would probably be the majority of us. How many of you would say that you have put your fear of things in front of your faith?

Psalm 118:6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

Psalm 56:3 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

Recently, there was something we were working on for our church. There were a couple of different times concerning this event that we had wondered if it would even be worth the money or the time. We worried about the attendance, money, and everything falling into place. Where was our Faith?

Oftentimes we forget to pray and ask God for guidance and wisdom in whatever situation we are dealing with.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Jeremiah 32:27 Behold I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?

God already knew what we wanted and what we needed, but how can He give provide it for us if we don’t ask Him for it?

It was a Wednesday that we had been worried about all of these things, and It wasn’t until I was reminded that we just needed to pray and ask God for what we needed. The very next day He showed us in two very big ways that He can provide, we just have to give it to Him. God is good, All the time!

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

So, next time you fear that you may not be able to pay your bill on time, or whatever the situation is where you might find yourself putting your fear before your Faith, remember to do one simply thing: Pray! Pray and ask God for Wisdom and Provision.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Do you have a time that you can think of that you put your Faith in front of your fear and God provided?

Monday Musings

I recently stumbled upon some totally useless facts that I thought you all might find interesting... or not, but regardless I'm going to share them.

  • Shakespeare invented the words "assassination" and "bump"
  • If you keep a goldfish in a dark room, it will eventually turn white
  • Right handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left handed people
  • If the population of China walked past you in a single line, the line would never end because of the rate of reproduction
  • Most lipstick contains fish scales   (EWWW!)
  • Over 2500 left handed people a year are killed from using products made for right handed people
  • More people are killed by donkeys annually than by plane crashes
  • Every time you lick a stamp, you're consuming 1/10 of a calorie. (Don't forget to add that in your calorie count!)
  • It's against the law to burp or sneeze in a certain church in Omaha, Nebraska. (Well, my brother's would end up in jail there)
  • the starfish is one of the only animals who can turn it's stomach inside out.
  • Hershey's kisses are called that because the machine that makes them looks like it's kissing the conveyor belt
  • Lastly, left handed people make better artists. Or so the internet says. You would disagree too if you saw my mom try to be artsy. 😁😁
How's your Monday going??

The Best Month

"I can't believe it's August already!"

Admit it. You've already said that, haven't you? I know I have. Pretty much every time I've had to write the date on something.

I think August tends to be neglected as far as summer months go. June has the excitement of school being out and summer just beginning. July has ... well ... the Fourth of July. It's hard to compete with that. Especially since August doesn't even have a holiday. Well, except for tax-free back to school shopping weekend.

August may not be the most spectacular of months, but it's got a few credits under it's belt. According to the internet, August is--

Admit You Are Happy Month
Audio Appreciation Month
Cataract Awareness Month
Catfish Month
National Eye Exam Month
Family Fun Month
Get Ready for Kindergarten Month
Goat Cheese Month
Happiness Happens Month
National Back to School Month
Panini Month
Peach Month
National Picnic Month
Romance Awareness Month
Sandwich Month
Water Quality Month
What Will Be Your Legacy Month

--among others. I just like August because it's my birthday month. And once you get to be an adult, your celebrating is no longer limited to the actual date. I've already gotten emails from Kohls, Meijer, Ulta and a few other places gifting me with extra reward points, free mascara and some other goodies for my birthday. I should be able to get a gift or do something to celebrate almost every day this month.

In the meantime, tell me which of the above titles you intend to use to celebrate August. Goat Cheese Month? Gonna celebrate by scheduling a check up with your eye doctor for National Eye Exam Month? (You wild thing, you!)

You can also drop a comment telling me where you get the best birthday freebies. I'm always game for expanding my celebrating horizons.

Jill:  sprinkles. They’re always a happy thought.

Things You Should Never Say or Ask A Pregnant Woman

The last couple of weeks in Junior Church some of the kids have come up to me and asked me if I had a baby in my stomach. I'm not sure if they are just now paying attention or if I'm just now really starting to look pregnant? Either way, it got me thinking about things that people say to pregnant women and have said to me in the past.

My momma always taught me that if I don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. I know for some people that is a real challenge. It doesn't hurt to take a few extra seconds to think of how you could say or ask something a little nicer.

If you're pregnant, have been pregnant or related to someone who has been either, know that there are some things you should avoid asking or saying to that person.

1. You are Huge!

2. You still haven't had that baby?

3. Are you sure there isn't more than one in there?

4. You look tired!

5. You're having another girls? Your poor husband!

6. You must be uncomfortable!

7. Have you not figured out how you got like that?

8. Look at that bump! (While touching your bump). Um, excuse me..If you didn't put it there please do not touch!

9. When you're near the end of the pregnancy and you attend church.."You're still here?" Obviously...

So, next time your around someone who is expecting take a second to make sure you're not about to say or ask one of these things.

So what about you, has anyone asked you an annoying question while pregnant? Have you said anything embarrassing to someone who is expecting?
